Trip to Taiwan - Part 11

Eighteenth day: July 8th, 2010 (Taichung)
Another day spent at Taichung!
We did nothing much other than dancing to the previously danced Crayon Shinchan theme song, just to cheer us up. Not a boring activity though, in fact, we loved the whole funny choreography, thanks to Joe, the fu dao yuan from another group who arranged the choreography. The next activity a bit boring, such as making traditional cake. The process was similar with making a noodle, where you had to make this complicated long shapes resembling noodles. The thing is, when it comes to long shapes, they immediately broke into two. So yeah, I failed at doing it, sadly.

Anyway the next activity was a bit fun since we were doing it groups. We were going to make fruit ices!! Yay! It started off with us cutting and slicing some fruits such as: watermelon, melon, mango, kiwi, banana. Then after we were done collecting them in one huge plate, we brought it to the fruit ice car parked outside. The seller would add some toppings such as chocolate, ice, milk, etc.

Then we had a quick lunch before taking a break to prepare for our performance tonight. Janet, as the leader of the group, told us that the rehearsal would be held at her room at 1.15 pm. Me, Monika, Sonya, and Jane who stayed at the same room, decided to take a nap before going to Janet's room. But at 1.15 pm, when we were about to hit her room, apparently she didn't happen to open the door.
Guess everybody was just tired that day that they had fallen asleep. So we got back to our room to continue our naps.

Afterwards, we were told to gather at the restaurant for another activity, which is another handicraft activity. This time, we were about to make some Chinese origami. Kinda hard to explain, but basically, we traced a Chinese carving on an origami paper. After we had the Chinese carving on the origami paper, we cut it out. That's it.
But next task is kind of harder, because we had to make our own origami (no, not doing the folding kind of origami). Instead, we'd make symmetrical origami arts, as for mine, I created a butterfly (sounds like the easiest symmetrical object ever, considering the wings) then I stuck it to a paper. Voila, it's done :)

We took a quick break for dinner before preparing for our performances. We decided that the dress code for our group would be dark colored clothes or strongly recommended clothes would be black ones. Take a look at the preparation. Even we had the same hairstyles, thanks to Didi and Jeje for the hairdos. :)

The farewell party wasn't all that formal as said earlier.
It was held at the courtyard in front of the temple. No stages though. We just provided a huge space as the stage while the audience sat on the stairs or on the right and left side of the stage. We got the sixth turn, but we were already trembling like mad especially after seeing the other performances. They were all really well-prepared. Two performances that I most liked would be groups from Bandung and Surabaya.
The Bandung group danced to Brown Eyed Girls' Abracadabra and SNSD's Gee.

While Surabaya group made a musical dance of "Waving Flag" song (Coca Cola theme song for World Cup) involving flags of Taiwan and Indonesia. Those two groups finally made out their ways to perform their performances tomorrow at the Closing Ceremony. Congratulations!!

As for us? We sang At the Beginning by Donna Lewis and Richard Marx (it's the soundtrack of Anastasia, that animated movie) in a choir-ish form, with slide show shown on the screen.

Well we just had all of this prepared since like two days ago. But good job everyone, especially Audrey, Jeje, and Didi for preparing the slide show video up to five o'clock in the morning the previous day. Even though we might have prepared it at the last minute, we still did our best for the performance. Kudos!

Shortly after our performance is done, we went to 7 Eleven to buy some night snacks. Haha night ritual, again :)
