orange juice

i swim in your river flow
blinded by the beauty of yours
your energizing sunset color
drips of you fall on the floor
pinning me at once in the soil of excitement

i swim in your river flow
with the pulps running through
the reason why my heart beats of joy
as you embrace me when dawn breaks

you drew me closer yet could i not hesitate
so tantalizing your sight is it blinds me
deceiving my every thoughts

you come, invited
penetrating with desire
bomb of invigorating ticks,
explodes inside me within a minute
disintegrating all weariness

your taste embraces me tight
paralyzing every nerves
spreading inside me

yet now your sunset color is no more
your flow is no more
releasing exhilaration
drowning me in the sea of fervour

remains of you dissolve
come to embody inside me
leaving bits of smile in heart

parts of me crawl

as they beg for more of you

Wew, I never thought I'd post a poem up here. I made it within a minute merely as a challenge I accept from Elda. Well at least now you know how much I love orange juice :)

if only.

"if only national exam hadn't existed, i would have booked a ticket to watch super show 2 in malaysia."

"if only science club had got more members, we could have collaborated together to hold TSEC (tarakanita's science and english competition)."

"if only try-outs hadn't existed, i would have joined my dad in his trip to houston, texas, and visited seoul for a few days of transit."

if only
if only
say that once, twice, or many times
for maybe we only live to regret things
although we know we could never make it true

but they may only live in our dreams

Satu Kata Akan Ketidakadilan

Kau tuliskan satu kata
Satu kata yang mengandung ribuan makna
Hanya berujung dengan tanda tanya
Kenapa? Lalu kau tanya
Terlontarlah kata tersebut dalam pertanyaan yang kau tulis

Kenapa?
Satu kata akan adanya ketidakadilan di dunia
Kenapa begini, begitu?
Kenapa ini terjadi, itu terjadi?
Kenapa ia tidak membalas cintamu?
Kenapa manusia saling membenci?
Kenapa manusia saling membunuh?

Kenapa ia tak kunjung datang?
Kenapa manusia begitu egois?
Kenapa ketidakadilan mampu mengubah manusia menjadi begitu manipulatif? Dipermainkan oleh kenyataan?
Kenapa keberuntungan hanya terjadi sesaat?
Kenapa pertemuan manis berakhir begitu cepat?
Kenapa lelaki bercinta dengan lelaki,
perempuan bercinta dengan perempuan?
Kenapa hujan tidak turun di musim kering?
Kenapa sang ayah yang berpisah dengan sang ibu?
Kenapa ajal menjemput begitu cepat?
Kenapa, kenapa?

Pertanyaan itu terus mengalir dari mulutmu, kawan
Bendunglah pertanyaan itu
Dengan jawabannya
Adakah seorang memilikinya?

A Ballad of a Blue School Building in the Rainy Season
By Carissa

When drought comes to town
Your blue painting peels off
As time goes by

Your corridors
Staircases, classrooms,
and the rest of your places
Have gone worn
With spider webs all over the places
That have grown

Dust covers all
Chairs, desks, boards
Insects spread in many places
Drawing disgusts of everyone
who sees them

November

December

January

February...

Look outside, dear friends
See the sky goes dark gray at the horizon
Listen to the thunder rumbles in the distance
See, your smiles quickly grow wide
Hope flashes in your mind

The season we've all been waiting for
have finally come
Raindrops fill our ears
As soon as everyone' hands
clasped on their chests
Praying
Muttering
"Oh God, please let it rain all night.
Let the water pours from the opened sky
With all Your might."

By the time dawn breaks,
A ringtone wakes everyone up
A message that brings good news
A message that will make everyone rejoice
Everyone, still on their beds,
Looks up with their droppy eyes
Towards the blinding screen.

"School's shut down for today."

A sentence that will
make everyone jumps off their beds
Crying in happiness, rejoicing
Doing rain dances

Spread the word, dear friends
Let them all know that
Our beloved school
have finally succeeded collecting the water
poured from the opened dark sky

The yard
The corridor
The tennis court
Even the classrooms
are all but flooded with
brownish water and mud
with garbage floating on it

Oh school,
I wish you knew,
That you're the only school in town
has become what seems to me like
A reservoir
In the rainy season

Oh school,
You're one in a million
No other schools are just like you
No other schools that require
the students to wear slippers
to go to school
In the rainy season

Other schools will hardly recognize
The common phrase of
Ngobok

Yes, that's our school
Our beloved school
No matter if we hate it or love it
So let's wear those slippers proudly
On your feet
And crawl through the flood
Like there's no tomorrow

Because...
Our school is just one in a million
And it's

Tarakanita

(Ah, see how "beautiful" our school looks like when it's flooded?
No other schools have this interesting type of Mirrored Reflection view
produced by the flooding water
just like what's depicted in the picture above)

Dazed and Confused

Paper...
That word keeps ringing in my head
Never let go of my mind
When will it come to its end?
So many obstacles heading my way, blocking my view to the bright end

Paper...
The word that every twelfth graders keeps buzzing about
Running down the hallway like busy bees collecting their honey.
Yes, people, we are the bees
But it's not honey that we're looking for
It's our future ahead
The paper
Yes, that's our honey

Just like ants gathering their food in the summer
To keep it as a supply by the winter
We are the ants
And the paper we've been made busy about is our food
The winter is our future

I am dazed and confused
So many things piling up in my mind that I can even hardly think of anything
"Music homework!" "Arabic exam!"
All will be done tomorrow!
Ah...music...we know that we suck at it
The teacher is such a rubbish
Giving us a task that is completely a nutjob
Writing a song
Does he think we can get an inspiration for the whole freaking song,
just in one freaking night?
Meanwhile our minds are focused on one thing

Our food for the winter

Our honey for the food supply

The Paper is our future
A book of pages ranging from thirty to fifty
A book typed by all of our hands
Energy spent
Sweat wasted
Eyes locked on the screen
Mind wanders off far ahead
To our future ahead

The future is in our hands
And the future itself is due this WEEK

Oh...Mon Dieu...
I really don't feel like going to school tomorrow
I really want to skip this night, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow
Or this week, if that is possible
But time keeps ticking
And we are inside it
Tick tack tick tack
Minutes passed
But my eyes are still stuck on the chapter three of my paper

And because of me being stuck
I decided to write this little piece of poem
You can consider it as a junk, my friend
But this is how I express myself at this very moment
"I'm going nuts!" I hear my friends say
Oh how despair gets over you, my friend
But we must not give up
We must not let despair gets over us

We can beat it
We can do it
We can finish this freakishly, devastating junk called PAPER
P-A-P-E-R
It's our future
We are reaching out for it

All I want to say here is...
Tarakanita 2010, and all students out there in Jakarta and entire Indonesia
Especially for those who are devastated by their papers
That we can do it
Let us not waste our time weeping, whimpering,
crying out "We can't do it."
Because we can do it
Oh yeah, even Obama said this

YES WE CAN

Kami Bukan Tikus

By Carissa Atrianty

Hei kawan
Ada sesuatu yang ingin kutanya
Tahukah engkau apa itu tikus?

Lalu engkau jawab,
Oh tikus itu hewan kecil
Suka berdiam di lubang-lubang rumah
Atau bersembunyi di kotornya got

Lanjut engkau,
Oh tikus itu hewan kotor
Keju busuk dan sampahpun
Dimakannya

Lanjut engkau,
Oh tikus itu hewan yang dibenci
Kehadirannya tak diinginkan manusia
Begitu jijik mereka selalu muak melihat tikus

Lanjut engkau,
Oh tikus itu hewan yang tak berdaya
Betapa rapuh dan lemahnya mereka
Tak usah kau gunakan racun
Diinjakpun mereka sudah mati

Tetapi,
Tahukah engkau, wahai kawan?
Bahwa seekor tikus kecilpun
Memiliki harapan besar
Untuk dikenal, disegani, diakui
Disayang sebagaimana ia memiliki majikan
Layaknya manusia
Yang memanjakan kucing-kucing mereka

Tahukah engkau, wahai kawan?
Tikus-tikus ini ingin berseru
Namun suara cit-cit mereka
Hanya akan diabaikan

Tahukah engkau, wahai kawan?
Kami pun juga begitu
Kami mungkin kecil
Tapi dengarkanlah suara cit-cit kami
Kami tak tinggal di got
Kami tak makan keju buangan
Kami tak kotor atau jijik

Tahukah engkau kawan?
Kami tak seperti yang engkau kira
Karena,
Kami bukan tikus

Kosong

By Carissa Atrianty

Ruangan ini begitu kecil
Begitu pengap
Debu menutupi lantai
Masuki paru-paru

Gelap
Aku buta karenanya
Dinding-dinding ini begitu tinggi
Jendela tertutup
Seperti mendung menghalangi surya
Percuma saja tangan kecil ini menggapainya
Membuka mendung itu

Namun sia-sia saja
Aku pun terjatuh,
Terjatuh
Di lubang yang rasanya tak berdasar

Saat kubuka mata
Ruangan kecil inilah yang kembali menyambutnya
Sial
Ingin rasanya otot-otot ini merenggang
Berhenti untuk tegang

Tak terasa
Ruangan ini terasa semakin sempit
Pita suaraku tertahan, terdorong
Isi otakku ingin keluar
Jantungku berdetak tak keruan
Seolah, badan ini tahu apa yang kurasakan

“Tolong aku!”
Namun tak seorang pun mendengar
Tebalnya dinding nan mendung meresap suaraku
Ruangan ini semakin sempit
Menghimpit tubuh kecilku

“Tolong aku!”
Suaraku hilang ditelan udara
Tak pekakah telinga mereka?
Telinga yang tersumbat
Oleh bualan-bualan belaka

Perlahan tubuhku hancur dihimpit sang mendung
Lalu hilang, kosong

Poetic much?

That's right...I'm being so poetic these days.

I don't know why, but maybe some of you know that poem is definitely something that I really suck at. I can't write it and I can't even read it. Well, I have this funny yet embarrassing story of me reading out a poem and to tell the truth, it was actually a sad one. So you can imagine someone reading it out with a sad expression and a kind of voice that will strike you as if 'the reader almost cries reading it', and even some sobbing effect (it can be either fake or the reader really gets touched with the poem). A poem reader that can really mix the feel of the poem with her feeling, and even transfer it to the facial expression, is obviously considered as a good poem reader.

But what about me?

I'm totally different from what you think. The thing is, I always happen to laugh whenever the poem is sad. There are three reasons and indications why, and I can't still figure it out:

1. I laugh at my silly facial expression, that's because I always fail at making sad, almost-crying kind of expression, instead ends up making silly, soap-opera-ish expression.

2. I laugh at the poem itself. Either when I read out the poem, suddenly the thought of "This poem doesn't sound sad at all, instead, it sounds very silly" pops out in my head or the poem could be written by me (laughing at the silliness of the poem created by myself)

3. Reading out a poem requires a high intonation and some stresses in some parts of the poem. For example, when one part of the poem says "The war that rages in my heart" requires a high intonation, instead my voice would squeak in that part. Again, I always fail at making a convincing, high intonation.
And these three statements have been confirmed by my friends and even my literature teacher. They do acknowledge my flaws in poem. In fact, the latest news is, I was offered to join a German Poem Reading competition by my German teacher. She handed me over the poem for me to read it and of course, I couldn't understand it. Well, I did understand some words, but I doubt the meaning of the whole poem.

I was kind of hoping it wouldn't be a sad poem, because if yes, well, I doubt my performance would be really convincing. Besides, who wants to deal with sad facial expressions? That's the most difficult facial expression to make, after all.

Well, well, I guess I talked too much. Without further ado, I give you....my poems!!! (see my next posts). They're not the best, compared to Dewi Lestari's or WS Rendra's, or, well, don't compare my poems to these professional poets. Even my poems are not better than a friend of mine. She really is a true poet, and you can see her blog listed under my 'Les Amis' section.

Anyway, the poems I'm about to show you are made for my literature assignment. Actually I wrote them to be published on the class' magazine and in fact, the magazine only needs one poem per student. But turns out I made two of them (inspiration comes at any time, anywhere, and I can't stop it from flowing ^_^).

But those two poems are definitely what I'm most proud of these days. :) So enjoy the poems.
