ORLANDO for winter. pt 8: walk the dinosaur

We didn't know such a fun ride would take up time. It was 2.15 pm when we suddenly remembered of the fast pass appointment we had earlier with the Indonesian cast member. Elda and I skipped another chance of getting into Expedition Everest, much to my regret. But this time, while the others scrammed towards the ride, Elda and I went to DINOSAUR ride to get fast pass to everyone. So basically Aymee, Ardy, Lina, Nia, Wendelin, and Melissa gave all their Disney park tickets to Elda and I so we could get them fast pass tickets for DINOSAUR.

DINOLAND USA
Welcome to the land where the powerful ancient creatures once ruled the earth! Animal Kingdom gave another distinct vibe when we entered this territory. Elda and I went straight to DINOSAUR ride's fastpass booth and quickly purchased the fastpass tickets for everyone.

5. DINOSAUR:
Once the others were done with Expedition Everest, they went over to DINOSAUR ride and in just a few minutes of lining up (thanks to the fastpass option, again), we took a seat in the specially designated vehicle and enjoyed the ride.

Phiew, the ride was unexpectedly more violent than expected, it kinda reminds me of the Indiana Jones one in Disneyland Anaheim, but it's still better than any roller coaster rides. After the ride, we dropped by at the ride's gift store but apparently Dinosaur stuff no longer captured my attention (I used to go crazy over dinosaurs back in the day).
Anyway, just wanted to give a non-vacation heads up: While strolling around in the DINOLAND, thinking which ride we should hop on next, I was suddenly reminded that the Fall grades were supposed to be out those days. I quickly logged into my school's online portal. I was surprised to find out that my grades turned out to be satisfying! Thank you God :)

What could be better than finding out you got good grades in one of the happiest places on earth?

Well, enough with the celebration. We had finally decided to go for Rafiki's Planet Watch located in Africa. Before that, we stopped by to see a passing parade in Discovery Island, even if it was only a few minutes.

RAFIKI'S PLANET WATCH

We needed to take a train from Harambe to this particular area, which was apparently separated from the overall complex of Animal Kingdom. Even the train station was designed in a way that resembled those train stations in Africa! Once we got to Rafiki's Planet Watch, we still needed to walk along a jungle trek with animals in cage on display.
6. Affection Section:

The first area we ever got into there involved a direct interaction with animals. Of course, it was nothing like caressing a cobra, touching a lion, or something like that. They were domestic animals for sure, and they were free to roam around the enclosed area which we could gain an access into. The herd of lambs were indescribably cute! I couldn't help but to run my fingers along their soft fur. We also got to spot two goats fighting with each other. Not sure if this part was cute though
7. Conversation Station:

In this particular enclosed, air-conditioned building, we could get a closer look to fiercer animals such as snakes and insects. They were stored here for further observation (and indeed this building is an observatory...in a Disney park!!). Before we left, we stopped by to listen to an animal trainer introducing an owl named Luna. As a fan of owls, Aymee definitely found herself drawn to it.

Around 5.10 pm, we washed our hands after once again entering the affection section. Then we rushed to catch our shuttle which would leave from the Animal Kingdom parking lot ten minutes from now. We knew it would take a while for us to get there seeing that we were now at the very back side of the theme park.

On our train back to Harambe, we got to see some parts of Kilimanjaro Safari attraction. This time, we even got a better view of some animals we didn't get a good view at during the safari tour itself, like we caught a closer look at the lion from the train while we only caught a glimpse of its mane on the tour. Something like that.

After we parted with the Indiana girls, Ardy, Aymee, Elda, and I rushed all the way to the exit of the theme park. Apparently most people were also on their way out since the theme park was closing in a few moments. However, when we got to the shuttles lot, ours had gone off :(. We were there at 5.25 pm, five minutes late than the original schedule :((

We quickly took a taxi back to the hotel, but seeing that it was too early for us to go back, and that it would be Elda's last night in Orlando before she went back to Cupertino the next day, we changed the route immediately to Downtown Disney, a nearby shopping mall in the Walt Disney World complex.

Once we got there, we took a trip around the outdoor mall. There were bunch of fancy restaurants all around, which did nothing but to draw our hunger. Well, it was still 6 pm, too early to have dinner.
We continued strolling around and passed the amazing legoland, where we took pictures of some huge lego statues. Some of them were inspired by Disney movies though.

We also passed Planet Hollywood and saw a hot-air balloon. We were thinking to hop on board, but...apparently not.

Then we stopped by at Pollo Campero to have dinner. I helped myself with Chicken strips! It was sooo good!

Later on, we went to World of Disney, where we basically utilized this moment to buy everything-Disney-stuff. Although buying merchandise at this type of megastore might hurt the wallet a little bit, this megastore had tons of merchandise collections much more than any other gift shops I stumbled upon inside any Disney parks.

It was a good chance for me to get as many as souvenirs from my friends, but I was surprised to find out that I spent quite a lot on them. Regretting that I bought heaps of them, I had to refund some of the stuff on the same day. I'm so cheapskate just like that

Look what else I snatched from the store! They're all free though, but I didn't know there's going to be A LOT of them.

By 9 pm-ish, we caught a taxi back home. A nice Egyptian guy happened to be the driver and we had a good, warm talk along the way back to the hotel. We pretty much didn't do much when we got to the hotel. Elda had to pack and the rest of the night we spent by watching random stuff (like cartoons) to Walt Disney World private channel on TV.
