The News + SMTown Concert
Yesterday was literally the best night
of http://www.kpopstarz.com |
For a second, it sounds quite impossible for big Kpop stars such as, were coming to the Bay Area. It still makes sense if they have a concert in San Francisco, which is the closest big city from smy place, Cupertino. But Mountainview? I mean, please, it's Bay Area. I always think it's the last place in California big Kpop stars would ever drop by at. Mountainview is not even a big city, not as big, entertainment-focused as LA or New York! Guess I should say that Google was lucky (and rich) enough to invite them to their base located in a quite remote place in the Bay Area?
However, my happiness soon sunk when I
started to worry and later find out that the concert was private and
only open for Google employees. I actually have sensed a glitch about this concert, like lack of information, the ticket price, when the tickets would be up on sales... I was worried the tickets would be given away in a lottery kind of system and I'm really bad when it comes to luck. When I figured out the concert would be only for Google employees, I gave away my hope to see my Kpop
idols (out of the artist line-up, I mostly anticipated Super Junior,
given that I have been an ELF for 3 years now and they're the first
Kpop artists I know). My friend didn't give up though, and said that
she'd try to seek for tickets from Google employees or otherwise, we
would just have to wait for the artists at the airport for a free
glimpse of them. I said, I didn't care. Seeing them for a few seconds
is enough to make me swoon.
A week later, an update of the concert
was released, saying that the concert was now open for public...and
amazingly...for FREE. People would have to request the ticket on May
12 on Powerhouse website. Again, I spread the news to my friends and
arranged a plan and strategy how to request for the tickets to make
sure we got them for real. Getting a ticket for free online would
surely not be easy, considering that Kpop fans ARE crazy. They're
willing to sacrifice anything (even school or midterms) just to see
their favorite idols in action.
The Ticket Reservation
The D-day of the ticket reservation, I
gathered with Sammi, Indri, and Silvia at Indri's place. Each of us
has a laptop, with the browsers nicely set on Powerhouse website.
Seeing it would be hard to get the tickets in an instant, we tried to
get 4 tickets from each laptop. One request can only reach to maximum
four tickets, and if you want more than four, you have to make
separate transaction. When the clock struck 7, we were crazily
refreshing the website to get into the request form. But of course,
it wouldn't be that easy. For an hour or so, four of us only got a
“server crash” page after million times of refreshing the page.
The furthest I could ever go to was the request form, where I typed
in all the simple information like crazy, hit submit, only to see
that my request was not sent because the server crashed again :(. We
were darn scared and nervous that we wouldn't get any single tickets.
Suddenly Sam squealed and showed me a
confirmation slip page on her screen. SHE GOT 4 TICKETS!!! She turned
to me and said: “We're officially going!!!”. It took me a while
to absorb her words before I got to understand that I was officially
going to the MBC Korean Music Wave concert in Google with her!! Yes, she
confirmed that I was one of the ticket holders!
We literally went nuts to know that we
were going to see our idols in just A WEEK! I was more exhilarated by
the fact that for the first time ever, I would see my most favorite
Kpop artists, Super Junior, live. I couldn't bear the fact that I
would see them for real. Even just knowing I would meet them in a
week was too overwhelming. I needed some time to calm down.
However, I attempted to do some more
requests from my laptop, and still failed. I was actually looking for
extras for my friends in case they didn't get any. Trust me, I didn't
sell them. In the end, I still failed to request tickets from my
laptop, so are Silvia and Indri who had been kind enough to help even
though they wouldn't come. In the end, I got none from my laptop, but
Sam got 8 more. In total, she got 12 tickets! Now she was ready to
spread the tickets to those who need them
So the ticket has been settled. I
didn't care that I didn't get the tickets under my name, at least Sam
has reserved one of the tickets she had successfully requested for
me. That's all that matters.
See you in a week SISTAR (Bora, Hyorin, Soyou, Dasom), Beast (Yoseob, Hyun-seung, Jun-hyung, Dong-woon, Gi-kwang, Doo-joon), MBLAQ (Seungho, G.O, Lee Joon, Thunder, Mir), Wonder Girls (Yubin, Sohee, Yenny, Hyerim, Sunye), Kara (Jiyoung, Nicole, Hara, Gyuri, Seungyeon), f(x) (Victoria, Amber, Luna, Sulli, Krystal), SNSD (Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, Sunny, Yuri, Hyeoyeon, Sooyoung, Seohyun, Yoona), TVXQ (Yunho and Changmin), and...Super Junior (Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Siwon, Donghae, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun!!)
Wow that's a lot... O_O
