Magic Happens - Pt 02

When we were done meeting Merida, the four of us hung out in Fantasyland.

We got on to Mad Tea Party, just for the heck of it. Well it was fun though! We managed to spin the cup as strong as we could only to find out that no matter how strong we spin it, the speed would remain the same.

The ride was super short though, but fun enough to kill time. Then we were torn whether we should get on to Matterhorn Bobsled or Alice in Wonderland.
Matterhorn Bobsled had a very long line, so we decided on getting onto Alice in Wonderland, another mild dark ride like Peter Pan's Flight. Back in 1999, I was obsessed with Alice in Wonderland ride that I would bother going in there for more than twice, up to the point my mom was bored. But for some reason, back then, I liked it better than Peter Pan's Flight, probably because Peter Pan's Flight ride was a little too dark to me while Alice was more colorful.

In line for Alice in Wonderland!
Anyway, it was a pretty short, entertaining ride. From Fantasyland, we moved over to Adventureland, where one of my most favorite dark ride takes place, Indiana Jones Adventure. Before we got around, we found a familiar face! Hm he seems cooler than in the movie, where he appears to be much goofier. Tiffany was a little turned off due to Aladdin's cool persona in contrast to his playful one in the movie.

Then the four of us took fast pass for Indiana Jones (as recommended by me) and again, we had to come back, this time, in half an hour. While waiting, we noticed that the wait time for Jungle Cruise, which was located right next to Indiana Jones was less than thirty minutes.

Jungle Cruise offered a boat ride around the river with a supposedly-funny guide. While lining up, Tiffany noticed a quite good looking guide on one of the boats. She and Vinny even managed to figure out what his name was after hearing the guide introducing himself to the passengers. We sort of hoped we could get the handsome guide's boat so our tour would be at least more exciting (Girls will always be girls). But alas, we got a different boat with a different tour, but it was alright.

I have been on this ride everytime I went to Disneyland, but I had to say though, the guide this time was more or less boring. There were even some awkward, silent moments in the ride, but he broke it shortly after with some jokes. The ride was a little shorter than I expected, or at least that's what I thought when I went on this ride a couple of years ago. Anyway, it was still one of my favorite rides.

We took a short break after getting on Jungle Cruise. Sherin and I decided to buy some fresh mangos just outside the ride entrance (we were torn between fresh mangos or strawberry dipped in caramel, but mangos looked more convincing). We sat down for a while to munch at them while waiting for Indiana Jones fastpass time (we still had 5-10 minutes).

At around 4.30 pm, we got in the fastpass line for Indiana Jones. So excited!

The four of us chatted on our way into the ride. The fastpass line was definitely much shorter and faster compared to the standby line. Glad we chose fastpass not just for this ride, but for any other ride that offers this service. When we got to the loading platform and positioned ourselves into the line (we were seconds to entering our vehicle), the flickering lights inside the temple-decorated room brightened up. The sounds of machine stopped and the operating vehicles came to a halt too. It came to our realization that the ride was jammed. An announcement was thrown and a cast member approached us one by one, telling us that the ride was broken and that the lights were turned on (not sure why they told us this), and also, he told us to wait for a few minutes while they were fixing the system.

After waiting for minutes, we were on the verge of giving up the ride and exited. Some police even appeared in the operating room seen from the loading platform. Hm, it seemed like a serious case. My friends and I discussed what actually happened to people who were inside the ride. The lights were turned on, so that means those people could actually see the interior inside the poorly lit room of the dark ride. “What would happen if they were going down a steep hill? The seatbelt would press against the riders. That will be very uncomfortable.” Tiffany commented. Good point.

Anyway, we didn't have to wait any longer. The machine was activated and the lights started to flicker again. The ride was fixed! Then off we went on to Indiana Jones' military troop transport!

Well, it was still a good ride. Unlike any other kiddie dark rides in Disneyland, Indiana Jones had a more violent nature and better special effects. The ride never failed to amuse me.

We've spent almost half a day in Disneyland. Although we didn't get to explore each and every side of it, we needed to move on to Disney's California Adventure (or to be exact, we wouldn't waste the complimentary pass we got that allows us to enter both Disneyland and California Adventure). So from Adventureland, we headed right towards Disneyland exit and made our way into Disney's California Adventure.

Vinny and her third churros of the day
To be honest, I've only been to California Adventure once and that was also spent in less than a day. The structure of the theme park was definitely a lot smaller than Disneyland, and it also had fewer rides. However, after the opening of Cars Land, somehow the theme park got more attractive. Cars Land is probably one of the main reasons why I was also attracted to pay California Adventure a visit.
