This past month, after my work permit was expired, I spent most of my time getting back to writing and collected my guts to move forward with my long-time novel draft, Translucent. Although of course, I still do some designing on the side. After months of working full-time as a designer and learning a lot from my agency, I decided to set designing a little aside just so I could focus on my other passion (without abandoning my main one, which is designing, of course).

Back to my writing journey, in the period of a month, I followed up with my beta readers, gathered some more feedback, took some in, did some corrections on my novel, and even so, my novel was still on its second draft. It's still definitely a long way to go to publishing. Plus, I've been active lately on Facebook writing groups.

I'm still not sure whether I'll pursue self-publishing or traditional publishing. As a non-native English speaker, the latter would be a long shot for sure. While on the other hand, I've also heard good stories on writers pursuing self-publishing. So at this moment, I'm still weighing in on both aspects.

By the way, since I only have less than a week left in USA before I'm going back to Indonesia hopefully not permanently, I decided to print out my second draft on Createspace. US-based Createspace offers self-publishing service and they do great job in producing a top-notch Barnes and Noble-quality printed novels. So, as I printed my second draft in a manuscript form, I also transformed it to a legit printed novel to hand to close friends and family as advanced readers/beta readers.

The result is simply stunning and I can't wait to share it with you. Stay tuned for the next post!
